The Meaning Behind Our Name
WHAT IS PROHIBITION 37?
In 1937, Congress enacted the Marihuana Tax Act. The act imposed a heavy tax against anyone using the plant. Failure to pay the extortionate tax meant a fine up to $2000 and five years in jail. This led to the Boggs Act in 1951 which established mandatory sentencing for drug offenses for the first time in the US.
The Marihuana Tax Act of 1937 created strict restrictions and heavy penalties that effectively criminalized cannabis. Prohibition 37 honors that history while shaping a new future built on education, safety, and responsible access.

THE WORD AROUND NEW MEXICO
What are terpenes?
Terpenes are aromatic compounds in plants, including cannabis, giving each strain its unique smell and taste. They interact with cannabinoids, like THC and CBD, for potential combined effects, impacting mood and relaxation. Terpenes enhance the overall complexity of the cannabis experience and may contribute to its therapeutic effects.
What are terpenes used for?
Terpenes are used to provide distinctive aromas and flavors in various products, including perfumes, essential oils, and food additives. In the context of cannabis, terpenes contribute to the plant’s aroma and flavor profile, influencing the overall sensory experience when consumed. Additionally, terpenes may play a role in the potential therapeutic effects of cannabis through their interaction with cannabinoids, enhancing or modulating the overall impact on the body and mind. This synergy, known as the entourage effect, is an area of ongoing research and exploration in the field of cannabis science.
Where do terpenes come from?
Terpenes are naturally occurring organic compounds that are synthesized by a variety of plants, including cannabis. They are produced in the trichomes, which are tiny resin glands found on the surface of the plant.
How can I use terpenes?
Terpenes can be enjoyed through aromatherapy, adding unique flavors to cooking, and infusing personal care products. In cannabis, terpenes influence the strain’s effects and can help tailor your experience.
How will terpenes make me feel?
Terpenes can contribute to a range of sensory experiences and potential effects. For instance, some terpenes like Limonene may offer uplifting and energizing sensations, while others like Linalool might promote relaxation and a sense of calm. The effects can vary based on the specific terpene profile and how they interact with other compounds, like cannabinoids, in a given product or strain. Exploring different terpene combinations can help you find the desired mood and experience that align with your preferences.
